The concept for Rob Croxford’s upcoming show, Wisdom From A to Z, is simple: for each letter of the alphabet, he matched an object with a quote. The first letter of each object and of the person from whom the quote is a derived match as well. Twenty-six letters later, you’ve got a lot of paintings and a lot of wisdom.

Perhaps the wisest statement in the series of paintings isn’t about the 1950s at all. An image of a pair of lime green Crocs sit in the centre of the frame with a quote from Coco Chanel underneath: “Fashion is made to become unfashionable.”

Wisdom From A to Z will be on display from Wed April 1 – Sat April 25 at Gallery 129 in Toronto. A book of this exhibition that will be available just after the show opens.
