With thread, wool, wood, wire and paint, Anne-Laure continues to explore the line between 2D and 3D; how we understand the picture plane as either flat or illusionistic, and its relationship to the surrounding space. Her process is one of layering, uncovering, simplifying, culling, and fragmenting visual elements, discovering patterns and connections, and reframing them in a new context, in the hopes that by being attentive to the apparently trivial, new possibilities can be envisioned - miracles can be found in the mundane.
Anne-Laure completed a BFA at Concordia University in Montreal, and did further interdisciplinary studies in Vancouver (Regent College, UBC). She had her first solo show there at the Lookout Gallery, along with other group shows. She exhibited at the Festival International Montréal en Arts (FIMA) where she won two Prix découvertes, for a solo exhibition at the Galerie Dentaire in 2008 as well as one at Georges Laoun in 2009. Most recently, she presented an installation of paintings and boxes at the Gladstone Hotel. She currently lives and works in Montréal.
