Emily Schaefer
Emily Schaefer is an emerging artist living and working in Guelph, Ontario, this will be her first show at Gallery 129 Ossington.

"3" is a group exhibition featuring three artists exploring themes of light and texture; Meredith Bingham, Emily Schaefer and Rachel Vanderzwet. Individually each painter presents us with a distinct style and application, while together, the group creates an intimate and diverse poetry in the language of abstraction.
Artists' Statement:
My work focuses on the physical application of medium to surface; combining poured abstracted forms with heavy instances of built-up material. Each work begins with the attempt to intuitively place each shape on the surface. Once the first mark is placed, the next can be considered. Even though experimentation is part of my process, the surface of the canvas is never re-worked. At times the paint is manipulated on the canvas with direct purpose, other times it is left to its own device.
