The Day They Blew Away

March 3 - 27  2010

Kate Domina's stylized portraits explore the imagination and perspective of children. Fear, naivety, omnipotence and paranoia seep their way into the faces and demeanor of her young subjects. In her newest series of oil paintings, Domina’s unique whimsical style finds a narrative to call home as illustrations for a children’s book titled; The Day They Blew Away. Author Tamara Salpeter’s text is paired perfectly with Domina's playful images to tell the story of young siblings who are flown into another world on a kite.
