ARTISTS tranSiTORY I believe art is a reflection of our society, and should have meaning. My paintings have always had a political agenda. My newest series has evolved from the realization that our world is changing – and not for the better. My landscape work focuses on environmental and urban issues. I appropriate old quotes and re-invent the context to draw attention to current environmental issues. I mimic advertising iconography from pre-1950 to establish a ‘vintage’ visual look in my paintings. My unapologetically “happy style” enables my work to remain accessible, and helps diminish the political sting. I hope that my work entertains but also challenges people to re-assess their opinions about our values/traditions, how we treat our environment, and the implications of our actions on our planet. As my personal commitment to helping save the environment, I also donate a portion of my sales to The David Suzuki Foundation. tranSiTORY
